Casing: The self-priming pumps designs contain an airtight chamber that encases the previous component. Similar in structure to the casing present in the reaction turbine, these casings also come in different varieties.

Suction Tube: This pipe is attached to the upper end of the machine. It can also be attached to the center of the first component and is commonly known as the eye. The lower end of this tube is dipped into the suction tank or the sump from where it is going to be lifted up. This end is also fitted with a strainer and foot valve. The strainer filters the fluid and the valve ensures that the flow is maintained.

Delivery Tube: This is the delivery pipe. Attached to the lower end of the self-priming pumps, these deliver the liquid to the needed height and place. The centrifugal pump is designed to ensure that the flow is one-directional.
